Custom builds

Standard instruments cover the experiments most departments teach. For anything else, we match the sensors, board and enclosure to the protocol your department requests.

How a department requests one

This is the process we plan to follow. We have not delivered a custom build yet.

  1. Tell us the paradigm

Send the protocol or the published task you want to run, what you want students or scholars to measure, and how the device will be used.

  2. We start from the construct

We work out which signal speaks to the construct, then choose the sensors. We do not start from a sensor and look for a use.

  3. We match the hardware

We match the sensors, board and enclosure to the protocol, and tell you what the build will and will not capture.

  4. You get a quote

You receive a written quote and a plan for the build before anything starts.

  5. We build and check it with you

You try a working version and tell us what needs to change. The protocol is checked against established versions of the task where they exist.

  6. We hand it over

You receive the device, the protocol manual and software export, with training for the people who will run it.

Useful to send us

  • The task

A protocol, paper or manual that describes it.

  • The measures

What you need to record, and what you would like to add.

  • The setting

Teaching practical, faculty research or a doctoral project.

  • The numbers

How many devices you need, and how many students will use them.
