How it works

A session is designed to take four steps, from opening the box to analysing the data. The instruments and software are in development.

A session, step by step

  1. Set up

Connect the device to a laptop by USB or Bluetooth, and open the software. Sensor ports plug in, so a practical does not start with wiring.

  2. Run

Choose the protocol and start the task. The manual covers instructions, and consent templates are part of the protocol.

  3. Capture

Follow live graphs while the participant works. Responses are recorded along with the signals the protocol calls for.

  4. Export

Save time-stamped data and open it in SPSS, R or JASP, for analysis in the same practical or later.

Training for faculty and students

We want departments to run, analyse and extend their own experiments, without depending on us.

  • Faculty development programmes

Setting up, teaching with and troubleshooting each instrument, along with the science behind its protocol.

  • Student workshops

Running an experiment end to end, reading the signals and analysing the data.

What each protocol includes

  • A link to the construct

Each protocol ties a sensor signal to a psychological construct, so students learn what they are measuring.

  • Instructions and norms

Instructions, scoring guidance and norms, as they become available through validation.

  • Validation before release

Every protocol is to be checked for reliability and validity before release. This is our process; none has completed it yet.

  • Ethics by design

Consent templates and privacy-aware data handling come with the protocol.
